Bluworld creates new frameless water feature design for Midstate Medical Center
When Bluworld was commissioned to design and install an indoor 20+ ft. tall and 15+ ft. wide stainless steel and glass water feature as a focal point for patients in the main lobby of MidState Medical Center in Meridan, CT, they faced a new water feature design challenge. Midstate Medical Center wanted Bluworld to create a frameless water feature with the water on the back side of the glass, as to eliminate exposure of the water to avoid splashing or human contact, which would result in contamination of the water. However, creating a water feature with the running water on the backside raised installation and maintenance conflicts.

Bluworld’s solution for the water feature was to create a fully integrated rolling ladder system, which is concealed within a 24-inch space on the side of the feature, and attached to brackets on the ceiling and spanned the entire height of the water feature. Bluworld also utilized 18 ft. tall panels of clear tempered glass, which is the tallest available in the U.S., giving it the frameless water feature appearance. As a result of Bluworld’s design creativity, the water feature not only utilized as little space as possible, but was also a safe and easy solution for installing the panels and for the user’s water feature maintenance. Bluworld not only overcame a new water feature design challenge with this project, but also gained another satisfied client.

This project, contracted by Dan Vos Construction Company, Inc., represents a beautiful example of how a custom water feature can integrate with existing architecture and space. The fountain resides in Grand Rapids, MI at the Bissell Innovation Center. It is a fantastic addition to Bluworld's interior waterfalls archive. This vertical multi panel custom water feature exhibits some unique style options. The stainless steel uprights frame 35 feet of free floating 3form acrylic panels in orange crush. The backlighting sets the brightly colored flecks on fire and they shine through the waterfall. The logo is featured in brushed stainless steel standoff letters which are suspended out, in front of the water. When designing your dream custom water feature, remember that if you dream it, we can build it...

Rain Curtains have been a compelling style trend in Bluworld's custom water feature repertoire. Tarpon Point Marina Resort in Cape Coral, FL features another successful installation of Rain Curtains. It extends from the top most ceiling to the reservoir below stringing 26 feet of mylar strands. This project was contracted by BBL Florida, LLC and represents a beautiful example of how a custom water feature can enhance the atmosphere of a corporate venue. The Rain Curtains stainless steel fixture at the top has a ring of down lighting and likewise, the base has a ring of underwater up lighting. It is encircled by a spiral staircase from which you can muse at the waterfall and follow it along your way.
